Founder of MADE IN CECE fashion brand. A Fashion designer graduate from Herriot-Watt University, London, UK.
How did you start with MADE IN CECE?
MADE IN CECE was a post-graduation project that I have created with one of the alumni at Herriot-watt’s. The project later on, grew and became a proper business solely managed by myself when I moved back to Kuwait.
How would you describe your brand style?
Clean, classic and an investment.
What is special about MADE IN CECE?
In a world driven by fast-changing trend, MADE IN CECE ‘s vision and mission is to produce unique and versatile pieces that fit into a women’s daily life.
Who is your first supporter?
My father.
Whats your favorite piece from your designs?
The olive sport jacket from our winter 2020 collection.
How does your day look-like? Take us through it
My regular productive day would include but not limited to: developing new sketches for upcoming seasonal collections, follow-up on going orders and managing the brand’s social media channel.
How do you stay updated with the trends in the fashion industry?
Staying up to date with fashion forecaster (WGSN, WWD) and social media.
How hard or easy to establish a brand in Kuwait?
Starting up a local fashion brand in Kuwait is a mixed bag of (easy & hard) . it can be challenging and hard in terms of educating local consumers towards slow fashion and adapting to local flavors. Easy, word of mouth spreads rapidly in a small society and a generous potential market share when it comes to niche market.
How do you find the local brands presence comparing to regional or international brands?
I believe that professional local designers/brands are a minority and lack proper commercial support to gain better brand exposure and awareness abroad.
How did the pandemic experience impact your business?
The pandemic led to lower than forecasted sales for what is considered a high season for all fashion designers. Inventory, marketing budgets and production line had all been reconsidered during this period.
Is there any advice that you would give to local designers starting out?
You need to be 100% sure that fashion is your passion and it’s not just an extra income. because you might not get any for while.
